Welcome to our blog on The Tate Film (working title) - a joint partnership between Aardman and the Tate Gallery - a film that will be produced with the help of hundreds of children.

So what is it?
Aardman and the Tate Gallery have joined forces to create a truly interactive film. With independent charity Legacy UK having put £3million forward for the project the aim is that children will contribute to the film at every stage.

It aims to use the best creative minds around & professionals and children.

How exactly can children be involved?
Well "children" here refers to anyone under 11 - sorry, that's the cut-off point. They can get involved by:

-Attending various Production Workshops around the country

-Contributing ideas to, and developing, a draft script written by an adult

-Over the two years set for the project children will be able to contribute everything from sound effects to character designs.

How's it going to work then?

Well for now we don't know - that's going to be revealed over time - but this site will follow it all the way in our exclusive "Tate Project" (working title!) blog.

"Every child in Britain can be involved in The Tate Movie and we will help them to draw on their imaginations, lives and communities whilst developing their visual literacy, and inspiring the artists of the future."
-Dave Sproxton, co-founder of Aardman Animations
