Bronze Wallace and Gromit figurine cancelled by Nick Park
We reported last year that Robert Harrop Designs were to produce an incredible bronze statue of Wallace and Gromit, standing atop a marble base, limited to just 20 pieces. Priced at £750 it could have been among the ultimate Aardman collectables.

However it has been halted, even after orders had been taken, because Nick Park and Aardman have denied Robert Harrop Designs permission to produce the piece. The reason given is apparently that they feel the bronze form does not suitably reflect the true spirit of Wallace and Gromit.

I see both sides of the argument myself. A number of people I spoke to suggested that bronze was not the best medium to show the duo in, but I myself thought it still looked marvellous and had actually placed an order for one. It does perhaps seem a shame not to allow small bronze models of the duo in light of the proposed Wallace and Gromit bronze statues that might one day live in either Bristol or Preston.

There is still possible hope for the future and I understand that Robert Harrop Designs do intend to discuss the case further. We will keep you updated on what happens – but why not leave a comment with your opinion below?
