Robert Harrop 'Wrong Trousers' figurines announced
The new Robert Harrop Designs catalogue for the first quarter of 2010 has been sent out to members of the Collector’s Club, and I am delighted to report two new exciting pieces to the range – both taken from ‘The Wrong Trousers.’

The most vivid images from the Wrong Trousers are the train chase, Wallace in the Techno Trousers, Feathers McGraw and Gromit leaving home. However these are such well known images that they have, of course, been tackled in the past.

While I still think there’s room for Robert Harrop to make something based around the train chase, it would have been a little unoriginal if they had just produced static Techno Trousers/Feathers McGraw/Gromit leaving home statues. They have therefore picked a really original and unusual scenario for their first Wrong Trousers piece, but it’s one that still contains familiar images.

As you can see below the piece chosen is the Techno Trousers, with Feathers McGraw sitting on them and Wallace hanging asleep from within them, climbing the museum wall to commit the famous diamond theft.

What a brilliant choice! It’s such a striking image, I know the Techno Trousers ability to walk on walls really fired my imagination when I was younger for instance. I can’t look at this piece without hearing the Techno Trousers hydraulic sounds, and the music from the scene itself. Priced at £69.99 it is limited to just 750 pieces worldwide.

Of course that is the higher end of the Harrop price mark (at least for their ‘normal’ ranges), so what is there for those who want to spend a little less? Well fear not because the second ‘Wrong Trousers’ piece is, I believe, the most original and exciting Robert Harrop Wallace and Gromit figurine to date. I laughed out loud just to see the picture, it’s such an inspired choice.

The moment when Feather’s McGraw turns to look at Gromit, hidden in his cardboard box, and we see the ‘Metabix’ logo with cartoon dog underneath is one of the best sight gags in the history of Wallace and Gromit - and it is now superbly recreated in beautiful Harrop form! You can remove the box to see the Gromit model underneath or cover him up (with only his eyes showing).

Compare the box to the original one in the screen shots - every crease, dent and detail has been perfectly recreated. Priced at £34.99, again limited to 750 pieces worldwide, I honestly think this is a ‘must have’ for Wallace and Gromit fans and collectors.

Like the original Wallace and Gromit films the Harrop figurines continue to surprise. Just as you think you know how they’re going to move on, and just as you think you can predict the next figure coming, they outdo themselves! The best Wallace and Gromit collectables are those that are fun to have around and start a conversation. These two new pieces do just that.

Whether you have any earlier Harrop figurines or not these pieces are not to be missed!
