Phillip’s family have served the Quartermaines for many, many years. He was born into a litter of nine and as a result his father often forgot his name. [1]
He trained well as a pup and prides himself on his barking, digging, and fetching skills. [1b]
After the events of the Curse of the Were-Rabbit [2] he returned home expecting praise for chasing the Were-Rabbit away but received none. [3] Eventually, when Victor failed to return, he left home and took up a job as a guard dog at the local airstrip. When his chance for revenge upon Wallace and Gromit arose he took it openly, but it backfired on him and he was fired from his job. [4]
